It is equipped with a deflector cap, which helps direct discharged gas away from the valve while also providing the enhanced discharge characteristics associated with Generant’s VRVD design.

The valve uses Generant’s internally adjusted design to help prevent inadvertent changes to the factory pressure setting. Its Quad-ring sealing arrangement provides accurate and repeatable cracking performance with a narrow reseat band.

OPERATION

Under normal system pressure, the relief valve remains closed. When inlet pressure reaches the approximately 0.5 PSIG factory-set cracking pressure, the direct-acting mechanism begins opening to discharge excess pressure to atmosphere. As pressure decreases, the valve reseats automatically.

For Generant VRV/VRVD valves set between 0.5 and 1.9 PSIG, the manufacturer specifies nominal reseating at approximately 50% of set pressure.
